#ForSuchATime Fast and Vigil
On Sunday, May 21, we will begin a 3-day fast urging Rep. Diane Black as House Budget Chair to reject extreme budget proposals that would cut safety net programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and those for child nutrition.

We invite all people of conscience and courage (the event is family friendly!) to rally at Elmington Park (corner of West End and Bowling Avenues) followed by a silent march to the nearby Nashville residence of Senator Lamar Alexander to hold a candlelight vigil. This will be a peaceful, lawful vigil urging Senator Alexander to consider the damage he will inflict on millions of American families if he votes for this cruel legislation.
We must continue to advocate for the expansion of Medicaid, protections for those with pre-existing conditions, and ultimately universal healthcare for all. Our faith traditions and moral commitments require us to act! #moralresistance #protectourcare
For the past 2 years during Holy Week, the General Assembly has voted down Medicaid Expansion and blocked access to health care for 280,000 Tennesseans. As we enter into another Holy Week, we refuse to be silent and allow this year to be the same. Join us at McKendree UMC and we will make our way to the Capitol at 3pm to deliver the Moral Movement Declaration to Governor Haslam, and ask him to call a special session of the legislature to expand Medicaid.
